Timothy James
Meeson
Feb 4, 1957 — May 22, 2022
Timothy James Meeson, 65, of Saint Marys, GA passed away on May 22, 2022.
He was born February 4, 1957 in Tacoma, WA to Thomas and Joan (Trull) Meeson.
Tim grew up in Kitsap County and spent free time in his teenage years diving in and around Puget Sound. Following his military time, he made the PNW the home for his family for over 40 years. After high school graduation, Tim joined the Air Force and met his wife, Ellen, while they were classmates at the Cryptological Science school at Goodfellow AFB. After duty stations in Texas and Italy,
Tim returned to Bremerton and began his career at PSNS. He was a Rigger by trade and loved his crews
and later his work teams as a Manager in Safety, retiring in 2012.
During his career Tim accomplished two major goals. His first was to graduate with a degree in
Education from Southern Illinois University. His second was to see the world and he and Ellen saw all the
Wonders of the World. Further, with the exception of Antarctica, they visited all the continents as well.
In 2019, Tim and Ellen decided to leave Kitsap and start the next chapter of their life in Florida, but the
charm of Saint Marys spoke to them and they decided it was 'close enough.'
Anyone that knew Tim could attest to his love of history. He knew all those random dates and trivial
facts that bored you in school, but Tim had a way of weaving them into stories that made you want to
hear more. Tim was the only person we knew that used to set his passcodes to the year of the Battle of
Hastings, but it worked. Go ahead, look it up.
Tim loved his Dallas Cowboys unconditionally and always looked forward to their next season. Being in
Dallas to watch his favorite player, Emmitt Smith, break the rushing record was one of the highlights of
his life and we think the Cowboys owed him that much.
For all his accomplishments and adventures, the biggest love in his life was for his family. He was so
proud and them and confident they would continue to do great things and have a wonderful life. He told
stories, took them fishing, made hundreds of pancakes and dispensed advice to his grandchildren. He
also had an 'ahem' every time his boys would make what he considered to be a questionable comment.
Tim was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Rick Meeson.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ellen, his sons Timmy (Julie), Christopher (Susanne), his grandchildren Caleb, Joshua, Emma, Alex, Sophie, Tessa and his great grandchild we will welcome to the world in November, as well as his Mother, Joan Green, brother Thom (Laurie) and 'bonus' daughter Alina Gridley and family.
We will hold a celebration of life for Tim in the fall, his favorite season.
Honoring his wishes, we will have the Viking send-off he always wanted as we sail his ashes on the river at sunset.
May we request that donations in his memory be made to Tunnels to Towers or Make a Wish
Foundation.
