Obituary

Thomas Edmund Bowie

AKA, Thomas, Eddie, Toots passed away in St Marys, GA on 28 June 2025. He was 93
years old.

Thomas was born in Nanjemoy, Maryland, to James E. Bowie and Lillian Belle Bastian,
and was brother to Walter Lloyd Bowie. Thomas began life working as a carpenter with
his grandfather, Albert Bastian. Later, he joined his father in working for the Charles
County State Roads Department, learning to operate various heavy equipment. It was
through learning this trade that led him to his career working for the federal government
as a heavy equipment operator eventually rising to foreman for the Motor Equipment
Shop at the then Naval Ordnance Station at Indian Head, MD. Thomas was also a
member of the Maryland National Guard for 10 years, rising to the rank of Sargent.
Eddie, as most friends called him, was known for being an avid car mechanic, builder,
and fixer of just about anything you put in front of him. He loved camping. He would
buy campers and change them around, keeping them long enough for a couple of
camping trips then trading for another one. Eddie was a quiet man of few words, honest
to a fault, willing to help anyone who needed help.

Thomas is preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Deloris Hamilton, his second
wife of 17 years Patricia Haley and his brother Walter Lloyd Bowie. Thomas is survived
by his children Thomas D. Bowie, his wife Sherri, children Tyler, Sean and Jessica;
Robert Michael Bowie, his wife Becky; their children, Tracy and Carla. He is also
survived by his stepson through Patricia, James F. Haley and his wife Barbara, children
Tiffany and Kyle; grandchildren Hunter, Zane, and Arya.
