Susan Santos
Coats
Dec 20, 1952 — May 3, 2024
Susan Santos Coats of Saint Mary's, GA passed away at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, FL on May 3, 2024.
Susan was born on December 20, 1952 in Tarlac, Philippines to the late Ruben M. Santos and Elizabeth Pagsuigiron Santos
Susan (Lola) was the consummate wife, mother, grandmother and friend to everyone who were blessed to have known her. Her love and benevolence for family (which extended to many non-related friends) were always her first priority. She worked multiple jobs for decades to assist financially helping family pursue education. Family was always first in her eyes. Even when tired or sick she always made sure we were fed and taken care of first. She was always happiest when in the company of family (especially grandchildren) and friends. Her smile would light up the room and her joy was contagious. She loved to see people become successful, and you could count on her to be your number one fan for what ever sport, hobby or education you pursued. She loved seeing people succeed and contributed both her encouragement and support towards their education. Lola was an excellent cook and gardener and she enjoyed sharing her hobbies with family and friends. Her knowledge of plants and gardening was extensive. She would even advise family in the Philippines on better techniques for healthy, organic gardens. Lola loved animals and took in many over the years both here and at her sister's home in the Philippines. She successfully raised chickens, ducks and rabbits, showering them with attention and care and she made each person or animal feel as though they must be her favorite.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Kenneth (Ken) Coats. Children, Casandra Louise Coats, Crystal Lynn Coats and Christopher Neal Coats. Grandchildren, Ashley, Brice, Skyler, Jessica, Jalynn, Jaden, and Clara Beth. Great Grand daughter, Nora. She had numerous family members that also survived her. She was affectionately called Lola or Lola-San by family and friends after becoming a grand mother.
The Funeral will be a private affair with immediate family, with a "Celebration of Life" Memorial to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to your favorite charity.
Lola was a regular contributor to the local Humane Society, American Cancer Society, Ducks Unlimited, Veteran organizations, Fil-Am and the various fund raisers for the local schools.
