Sheryl Lynn
Slattery
Jul 6, 1963 — Aug 9, 2026
Kingsland
Sheryl Lynn Slattery (née Sharp), 63, affectionately known as “Shutterbug” for her lifelong love of photography, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026.
Sheryl was born on July 6, 1963, in Huntsville, Alabama, to Jimmy and Martha Sharp.
On November 10, 1984, she married the love of her life, William Slattery, beginning a marriage that would span 42 years. Sheryl lived life with a rare kind of joy and passion. She had a gift for capturing life’s small, beautiful moments — a talent that earned her the nickname “Shutterbug” among those who knew and loved her. She was equally at home on the back of a motorcycle, feeling the freedom of the open road, as she was ministering to the cycling community, where her faith and her love of riding came together in a ministry that touched many lives. Her voice also rang out in the church choir, where she shared her gift of song for years, lifting others through worship and music.
Sheryl is survived by her husband, William Slattery; her son, Shawn Slattery; her daughter, Kaitlin Slattery Smith; her grandsons, Finn and Donovan Slattery; and a granddaughter yet to be born, who will carry on knowing how deeply she was already loved by her grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Martha Sharp.
Sheryl will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her devotion to her faith and community, her love of music, and above all, the love she poured into her family. She leaves behind a legacy of photographs, memories, open roads traveled, and songs sung — and a family bound together by the love she nurtured.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 15, at Allison’s Memorial Chapel, with a fellowship meal to follow at River of Life Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Sheryl’s memory to your favorite charity — a Christian motorcycle association, theWounded Warrior Project, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
