Ruth Ann
Sharp
Sep 16, 1935 — Jun 16, 2026
Ruth Ann Sharp, 90, of Woodbine, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
Born in Charleston, Tennessee, on September 16, 1935, Ruth was the daughter of the late Ray and Mary Humphrey.
Though she lived in many places throughout her life, Camden County was always home to her. Ruth was a driven and dedicated woman whose career was centered largely in real estate, where she became known for her sharp mind, strong work ethic, and quick wit—earning her the well-known nickname "Ruthless". Before that, she was recruited out of high school to serve in the FBI in Washington, D.C., where she met her late husband, Marion Sharp. Ruth and Marion were married on February 19, 1954, and began their life together as they moved to Fort Stewart, Georgia, where Marion served in the United States Army. Together they welcomed their first daughter, the late Debbie Simko. Later, they moved to St. Marys, Georgia, where Ruth worked for Gilman Paper Mill. There they also welcomed their daughter Sandy McCollough and son Gary Sharp. Ruth and Marion shared a love of flying and owned their own airplane. Ruth achieved her first solo flight at the St. Marys Airport, a memory that reflected her adventurous spirit and determination. She was also active in her community, serving as president of the Candy Stripers for Gilman Hospital and helping establish the first Watson Realty office in Camden County.
Ruth had many passions beyond her work and family. She was an avid NASCAR fan, always keeping up with the races and drivers she enjoyed. She loved to travel and treasured the many trips she took with her grandchildren, creating memories they will carry forever. She enjoyed
crossword puzzles and was famously quick and competitive when it came to Jeopardy. Ruth also had a love for the arts, often enjoying going to plays whenever she had the opportunity. She was also known for passing down cherished family recipes, ensuring her love and traditions lived on through generations. Throughout her life, Ruth was witty, strong, and full of personality. She devoted herself to her family, her career, and her community, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and determination in the place she always called home.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy McCollough of Woodbine, Georgia; her son, Gary Sharp and his wife, Karen Sharp, of Waikoloa, Hawaii; six grandchildren, April Frawley and husband Randy, Jessica Clifford and husband Brandon, Sara Widener and husband Mike, Chase Sharp fiancées Savannah, Garrett Sharp, and Haley Erkman and husband Keith; five great- grandchildren, Gabe Frawley wife Becky, Xander Frawley, Ryland Clifford, Kinsley Clifford, and Riley Ann Widener; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A private graveside will be held at a later date.
Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
