Russell Lee "Mule" Renew, 61, of Kingsland, Georgia, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Russell was born in Barnwell, South Carolina, in 1965, where he spent his early years before moving to Kingsland, Georgia, in 1986—a place he would proudly call home for the rest of his life.

Russell was a devoted husband, father, and Opa who cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his loving wife, Lori Renew; his sons, Justin Renew (Ashley) and Brandon Renew (Emily); his beloved grandchildren, Leeann, Christian, Ryan, Kinsley, and Amelia, who brought immense joy and purpose to his life; his siblings, Sherry Morgan, Lisa Renew, and Billy Renew; and extended family. He is also lovingly remembered by Kassandra Renew, mother of his grandchildren, Leeann and Ryan.

Russell held a variety of jobs throughout his life, but he was especially known for his time at Gilman Paper Company and his years in Sales. A natural-born salesman, he had a rare gift for connecting with people—he could truly "sell a red popsicle to a woman in white gloves." More importantly, he made people feel at ease, often turning conversations into friendships.

Known for his quick wit and larger-than-life personality, Russell never met a stranger. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending weekends with friends, never missing a chance to have a good time and share a laugh. Later in life, his greatest joy became his grandchildren, who meant everything to him and brought out his softer, more sentimental side.

Russell will be remembered for his strong spirit, his sense of humor, and the deep love he had for his family. While he will be deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing he has been reunited at the gates of heaven with his father, Willie Renew, his mother, Elizabeth Renew, and his beloved dog, Leo.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 5, 2026 at 1:30 pm at Allison Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.  A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 until service time.
