Obituary

Ronald Eugene Walker of Woodbine, Georgia, passed away on February 26, 2024, at U.F. Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by family and friends.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Christine Walker, his brother Elvin and wife Lorene Walker, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by his mother and father, Calvin and Ester Walker, brother Clifford Walker, and two sisters, Lois Anne and Catherine Walker.

Born at home in the Spring Bluff area on September 8, 1941. His family later moved to Woodbine, where Ronald met Jesus at age nine at First Baptist Church of Woodbine. The family moved to Callahan, Florida, where Ronald graduated high school and later returned to Woodbine, where he met the love of his life, Christine Miller, his soon-to-be forever soul mate. Ronald worked at Gillman Craft Bag in St Marys, Georgia, and followed the company to Eastman, Georgia, when they moved their facility. Ronald retired after thirty-eight years of employment in 1999 and returned to Woodbine for the most important work of his life, serving God. Ronald was ordained as a Deacon at Forest View Baptist Church in 1971 and faithfully served God in every community he lived. Ronald ended his service as a Deacon at the church where his journey with Jesus began, First Baptist Church of Woodbine. He served in every position required in the church, at one point or another, even filling the gap as an interim preacher. Ronald exemplified what it means to serve, giving us a good example of how to live our lives for Christ. Ronald had four passions: His love for Jesus, His love for his wife Christine, woodworking, and riding his bicycle. He once rode a hundred miles in one day from Eastman, GA, to Brunswick, GA, and back. A Loving Husband, Brother, and Friend who lived well.

Services will be held on Thursday February 29, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Woodbine at 11:30 am with Pastor Brett Prince officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:30 -11:30 before service begins. Burial will follow in Colesburg Cemetery.

Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
