Obituary

Ronald Steven King, age 80, passed away peacefully at UF Health Hospital in
Jacksonville, Florida, on June 19, 2025, surrounded by his wife Carolyn and some of his
immediate family.

Ron was born in Bayonne, New Jersey and graduated from Matawan Regional High
School in NJ, where he met the love of his life, Carolyn, his wife of 58 years. After his
graduation, he worked a variety of jobs to make ends meet before eventually securing a
truck driving position at a large regional commercial glass and aluminum contracting
firm. Through hard work, a strong desire to provide for his family, sharp wit, and natural
leadership, Ron rose from truck driver to president of the company.

With his magnetic personality and drive, Ron built many lasting business relationships.
One of these connections gave him a small loan, which he used to launch his own
contracting company, R & K Architectural Metals & Glass. After running his own
business successfully for 25 years, Ron retired and moved to St. Marys, Georgia with
Carolyn.

Ron had a passion for boating and deep-sea fishing. He and his son John took many
fishing vacations to several countries. He also loved horse racing and has visited most
of the major racetracks across North America, including the Kentucky Derby with his
son John.

He often spoke fondly of the many vacations he took to the Caribbean, Central America
and cruises to Europe with his wife and family. As the patriarch of the extended King
family, Ron offered guidance, mentorship, kindness—and, when necessary, tough love.
He left a lasting impression on nearly everyone he met.

He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of strength, warmth, and wisdom will live on for
generations through his ever-growing family.

Ron's biological father, George King, died in Normandy, France during WWII. George
didn't know he had a son born before his death back home in the states.
After the war, his mother, Joyce, married John Kinnane. To Ron, John was the only dad
he knew.

He is the son of the late John and Joyce Kinnane. He is survived by his beloved wife,
Carolyn; his children; Renee King, Denise Bailey (Ryan) and John King (Tina); his six
grandchildren, Kayla (Jessica), Joseph, Ryan (Paige), John, Amanda (Dan), and Jesse,
and his great-grandchild, Mason.

A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in St. Marys at 11:00 am
on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
