Obituary

Ophelia Mizell "Toots" Petrey, 87, passed away February 14, 2023 at Ansley Park Rehabilitation Center in Newnan, GA following a lengthy illness and was surrounded by her family.

Ophelia was born December 29, 1935 in Homeland, GA to Eustice and Lena Rivers Brock. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Donald C. Petrey and brother, E. M. Mizell. She had a very engaging personality and never met a stranger which served her well in advertising sales early in her career and most recently as an Ambassador for her most recent Assisted Living Center, The Monarch House. She enjoyed the role of showing new guests and family members the facility amenities
until her health no longer allowed her to serve. To know her was to love her! The Christmas holidays were a special time for her. She loved to decorate the house for Christmas and for many years kept the Christmas tree up all year long. She enjoyed baking and sharing her goodies with
her friends. She was known for her ten layer chocolate cake and took pride in how quickly it disappeared. She enjoyed having an oyster roast with extended family. The holidays were a time for family gatherings. She lived in St. Marys, GA until 2011 following the passing of her beloved Don to be closer to immediate family in Coweta County. He was truly her soul mate. She was a woman of faith and a member of First Baptist Church in St. Marys. She was an avid Georgia Bulldog supporter and loved visiting the Great Smoky Mountains.

She is survived by her daughters Donna Carter (Richard), Sharpsburg, GA, Cindy Juneau (Grant), Wedowee, AL, Lori Smelser (Bruce), Grantville, GA , grandson, Joshua Barnes (Christie), Senoia, GA, two great granddaughters, Payton Rose Barnes and Parker Reese Barnes, Senoia, GA, great grandson, Hunter Scott Adams, Senoia, GA and one surviving brother, Clifford M. Mizell, Jonesboro, Ga along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and family at Allison Funeral Home, St. Marys, GA at 11:00 a.m. Saturday,
March 11, 2023 and service will begin at 12:00 p.m.

There will be a private burial service at Oak Grove Cemetery. Anyone wishing to make donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Toots Petrey.
