Norman Ralph
Bosworth
Feb 6, 1955 — Mar 18, 2025
Norman Ralph Bosworth, 70, of St. Marys, GA, beloved husband, adored father and best friend, passed away at home on March 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Norm was born February 6, 1955 in Detroit, MI to Ralph and Betty (Sterling) Bosworth, the middle son between two sisters, Nina and Marion. Raised in South Lyon, Norm grew up playing hockey (where, like any good player, he got a front tooth knocked out), listening to FM radio (before it was cool), and making the most of being outdoors by riding his bike, playing softball, shooting baskets, and playing with the family dog.
Norm joined the US Navy in 1976 where he served 20 years as a nuclear missile technician first class. The Navy took him and his family to Florida, Connecticut, and Virginia before finally settling at Kings Bay, GA where he spent the rest of his career and was honorably discharged in April 1996. He was a submariner through-and-through, traveling the sea, pulling into ports throughout the world, where he would get up to good mischief.
After his time in the Navy, Norm kept busy and found new challenges in multiple jobs including building homes, driving around the state for IKON office solutions, working with Home Depot, and administering ASVAB tests for prospective military recruits. Norm's final job prior to retirement was with Amazon, training employees to operate and drive equipment, often taking him to different sites to train the staff.
During his spare time, Norm enjoyed cheering on his favorite sports teams (all Michigan teams, naturally — Go Blue!), watching movies with family, reading horror stories, and spending time with the family dogs. He was a devoted father, coaching his daughters' little league softball teams, fixing and creating items that his daughters needed, and moving his daughters in and out of dorm rooms, apartments and houses.
Remaining to cherish Norm's memory are his wife, Julie (Merlington); daughters, Tiffany and Kami; sisters, Marion (Crawford) and Nina (Darisse); brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Randy and Cindy Merlington; nieces, nephews, friends and loved family dog, Rigby.
Preceding Norm in death were his parents, Ralph and Betty; in-laws, Ferris and Dorothy Merlington; brother-in-law, Elwood Crawford; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Russ and Marcia Ward; and cherished family dog, Cashew.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, March 23rd at 1 pm followed by interment at Trufant Cemetery in Maple Valley Township, MI.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Norm's memory may be directed to the Dolphin Scholarship Foundation.
