After closing her shop she then began teaching at Shirley Little's School of Cosmetology. She then started teaching at the college that she graduated from, Holmes Community College, Goodman, Ms., Nancy (Ms. Black) led many of her students to Christ. She liked to be called Ms. Black. She never walked or talked anyway she did not want someone to follow. She was faithful and obedient to God, her Father.

Nancy  was a Sunday school teacher for 39 years before joining First Baptist Church of Jackson in 1981, where she was a very active member in the Singles Again Ministry where she taught for several years and participated in divorce recovery workshops and seminars as a group leader for ten years.
