Obituary

Merry'l (Jean) Park, 88, of Kingsland, GA passed away at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, GA on September 19, 2023.

Jean was born on February 1,1935 in Blythe, CA to the late Edward and Verna Corley Snyder. She grew up in California where she modeled as a teenager. She had her first son, Victor in 1953. She was a bookkeeper for Boeing, a LPN, and a bartender most of her life. She married Phil Davenport and had two daughters, Kristy and Linda and one son, William. She married her 3rd husband, Bill Park in 1980 and they were married until his death in 2007. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, taking care of her family and loved Christmas time. She would go all out decorating, cooking and would invite anyone that had no family to come over and spend the holidays. Also, Birthdays were a big deal for her, she would go all out for her kids. She was multitalented, she painted, taught herself to play the piano and wrote lyrics. Jean loved her kids and grandkids fiercely. Towards her twilight years of her life when dementia was slowly stealing who she was, she always knew her kids; maybe not always their names, but certainly their faces. She made sure they all knew she loved them.

She is survived by her children, Kristy Lachance (Michael) of St. Marys, GA, Linda Smedley (Kenneth) of Kingsland, GA, and William Davenport (Jenny) of Goodman, MO. Grandchildren, Haley Roderick, Garrett Lachance, Cassi Phillips (Dale), Jacob Wall, Melinda Smedley, Rebecca Davenport, and Samantha Davenport. Great Grandchildren, Dominick Phillips, Xavier Phillips, and Aurora Phillips.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Park, son, Victor Matthews, and brothers, Bill Lee and James Snyder.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Crooked River State Park Picnic Site #1 on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 4:00 pm.
