Matthew Candler
Morris
Oct 7, 2004 — Apr 21, 2025
Matthew Candler Morris, 20, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025.
Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on October 7, 2004, he was adopted at birth by James and Catherine Morris. He was their "gift from God" and filled their lives with joy. They enjoyed watching Matthew play soccer and tennis, attending his wrestling matches, and hosting his friends over to watch movies or play video games. A 2023 graduate from Newnan High School, Matthew was attending Georgia Southern University and majoring in Health Sciences. He planned on becoming a Physical Therapist because he loved helping people and taking away their pain. He was always there to help people, become their new friend, and lived life to the fullest. His smile lit up his face and his eyes shined with genuine care and sincerity. As so many people have said, "if Matthew was your friend, he would always be there for you." He lived his faith.
Matthew is survived by his parents, James and Catherine Morris of St. Marys, Georgia. He is also survived by his grandmother, Betty Jean Morris of Madison,Georgia, grandparents, Larry and Anne Newton of St. Marys, Georgia, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Morris and Newton families.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 3pm in the sanctuary of Central Baptist Church, 14 West Broad Street, Newnan, Georgia 30263.
The family will receive visitors from 2pm to 3pm prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall.
Since Matthew was a firm believer in giving the gift of life, he donated often to the American Red Cross. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the American Red Cross: American Red Cross, Donations, P.O. Box 37839, Boome, IA 50037; or www.redcross.org/donate .
Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
