Mary Joan
Seal
Oct 24, 1937 — Jul 25, 2024
Mary Joan Seal, 86, of St. Mary's, GA, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
Joan was born at home in Ivyland, PA, on October 24, 1937, to the late Edward and Mary White Lishman and was the eldest of three daughters.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Amos Benjamin Seal; her two sisters, Barbara Cox and Linda Hermann; and her three children: Cindy Ann Kempff (Steve) of Florida, Edward Seal (Faryn) of Washington, and Bryan Seal (Beth) of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, with two little ones due this fall.
Joan loved her cats, especially Siamese or black ones and she always made sure the neighborhood stray cats had food to munch on. She enjoyed gardening, orchids, and flowers of all types. Joan made feeding the birds part of her everyday routine by putting out four bird feeders and two hummingbird feeders (and putting them away each night to keep the raccoons away). She along with her husband, Ben, served on the Tres Dias Secretariat boards both locally and internationally for many years and sponsored several candidates to attend their Reunions. Joan served on various teams in the Tres Dias, including as a Rector aptly naming the theme for her Rector Weekend (Purring along for Jesus) Over the years she volunteered for various leadership positions in the Zion Community Church in PA and at the St. Mary's Methodist Women's Group and served as President of the St. Mary's Garden Club here in Georgia. Today, we thank God for the assurance that Joan is now walking with Jesus, and we pray for Ben and all her family for the loss that they are feeling at this time.
Memorial services will be held at St. Mary's Methodist Church on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 12PM (visitation) followed by the funeral service at 1PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mary's Methodist food pantry (Helping Hands) https://stmarysmethodist.org/helpinghands.php
Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
