Lori Ann
Shad
Aug 2, 1961 — Jul 1, 2023
LORI ANN SHAD, age 61, passed July 1, 2023 after a long battle with cancer at her home surrounded by her loving family. Lori was born
August 2, 1961 in St. Marys, Georgia to Robert Shad, Sr. and Vila Clark Shad. She was a lifelong resident of St. Marys, GA.
Lori had a strong spiritual relationship with the Lord. She was very proud of each of her children. Her grandchildren, who called her Lolo, were her greatest blessing. Lori had a special bond with each of them.
In her teen years, Loris was a majorette, which led to her desire to teach others in pageantry. She headed the Miss Coastal Georgia pageants and also participated in the St. Marys Womans' Club and other pageants. Her passions included dancing, singing, baking, and spending time with
her family and friends. Before becoming ill, Lori served as a pastry chef at Amelia Island Plantation. She was also a surrogate mother and confidante to many.
She is survived by her siblings: Robert Shad, Jr. (Terri), Cathy Willis (Jim); Joy Pitts; and Melody Crocker. Her children: Timmy Johnson (Erin); Lessli Johnson; and Jarrod Petersen (Rebecca). Her grandchildren: Harland, Levi, Dane, Ryder, Ava, and Farrah.
She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Vila Shad, and her nephew Joshua Willis.
Services will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Westside Baptist Church, St. Marys, Georgia, with Reverend James Roberson officiating. The
viewing will be at 11:00am, followed by the funeral at noon. There will be a private graveside service for the immediate family at Oak Grove
Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Whitley, Dane Whitley, Trenton Davis, Nathan Tweedell, Gentry Durden, and James Durden. Honorary pallbearers are
Timmy Johnson and Jarrod Petersen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lori's memory to Coastal Hospice of Georgia. The family would like to extend a heartfelt special thank you to the caring staff of Coastal Hospice including Mary Berg and Kylie Glaser for their compassion and support during this difficult time.
Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
