Leonard E.
Henry
Oct 12, 1933 — Feb 15, 2024
On February 15, 2024, Leonard Henry went home to his heavenly Father. He was greeted by those that preceded him; his mother Beulah and father James as well as sister Mozell, and brothers James "Junior" and Albert.
Leonard was born in Whitesburg, Georgia as the fourth of six children. As a teenager, he joined the National Guard where he learned to be an Army cook. He later joined the United States Army and became responsible for Army mess kitchens. He earned his Sergeant stripes when an officer had his pancakes and demanded to meet the cook. Later, Leonard became his company surveyor, which would be his profession for the
rest of his career. He served in Korea during the war and later in Germany where he met Karin. Leonard and Karin were married in 1962 and lived and worked together as Henry and Associates. Leonard worked extensively in Kingsland, Georgia on multiple projects including Kings
Bay Naval Base. He moved to Kingsland in the 1970's, relocated the company and became Camden County Surveyor for several years. He loved to point out the many projects that he worked on as he drove around the area. He also loved to fish and shared that love with his family and anyone that would participate. He was an avid gardener and produced large vegetable gardens, flowers, and fruit. He had the amazing ability to grow anything, including a tree from a stick in a bucket of dirt.
Leonard is survived by his wife Karin, children Sonja and Thomas Westbrook, Donna and Barry Collins, grandchildren, Cody and Tiffany, Victoria, and KC, great- grandchildren, Richie, Bryson, and Ellie. He was surrounded by his family and died peacefully. He will be missed by many that loved him.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, GA for their care and support.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 11:00 am at Allison Memorial Chapel. Services will start at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Lawnwood Cemetery in Kingsland, GA.
