Obituary

Larry Lee Ellis, 57,  passed peacefully into the hands of his Savior on March 17, 2022 in his home under Hospice care surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer.
Larry was born in Brunswick, Georgia on April 15, 1964 to Carl Hubert "Captain Snag" Ellis and Beulah Stevens Powell. He spent his very young years in Woodbine, Georgia and then moved to Cameron, Louisiana with his father. He began shrimping with him at a very young age and developed a great love for the water and shrimping. He ran several shrimp boats up until he decided to move back to Georgia and start his own business. Twenty years ago his dream came true when Ellis Window Cleaning and Pressure Washing came to fruition in Camden County. Larry had $5 to his name and he bought a small bottle of Dawn dish soap, a bucket, and a squeegee. He began walking from business to business offering to clean their windows and thus began the very successful and well respected business he had today.
Larry was a man after God's own heart and he tried to bring everyone he met to the Lord. He didn't want anyone left behind. He was passionate about Jesus and wanted everyone to know Him too. Larry was a generous man who helped anyone in need. He rarely said no when someone asked him for something.
Larry is survived by his wife Frances "Edie" Lewis, his mother, Beulah Powell, his grandaughter Kaylee Ellis, his son Joseph "Joey" Jordan, his sisters Julie DeBarge (Brian) and Decenda Ellis, his brothers Dion Powell (Jessica) and Randy Bennett (Amber), grandson Austin Cassia, Nieces Amanda Savoie (Scott) and Heather Ellis (Adam), Nephews Jeremy DeBarge (Lakeland), and Brandon DeBarge (Kelli), Michael Lane (Anna), his closest cousin, Michael Fender (Allison) and many other family members. Family was the most important thing to him and he loved all of them.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Carl Hubert "Captain Snag" Ellis and his daughter Amber Lee Ellis.
Funeral services will be held at Woodbine United Methodist Church on Monday March 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm where he was a member. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in procession to Colesburg Cemetery where a short graveside service will be held.
