Harold Kenneth Gay, Sr. was born to Allen and Ethel Gay on October 21, 1928 in Kingsland, Georgia.

He married Alberta Peeples on July 15, 1950 in Nahunta, Georgia and they were happily married for 73 years. Kenneth was a devoted husband, father, and "Papa" to many. He was a long-time fisherman, politician, and farmer. He was also a member of Camden Lodge 476. Kenneth worked as a welder at Gilman Paper Company for 44 years and was a member of Union IAM Local 1128.

Kenneth is proceeded in death by his wife, Alberta; his brothers, Charles and Allen; his sisters, Edna, Allene, and Winona; and his son-in-law, John Salter.

He is survived by his daughter, Gennie Salter; his son, Kenneth (Sheila) Gay Jr.; his grandchildren, Nicole, Kent, Ashley, and Chris; his great-grandchildren, Haley, Madison, Abigail, Cole, Caroline, Riley, and Courtney; and his several nieces and nephews, and great-great-grandchildren.

Kenneth passed away peacefully Thursday evening, January 8, 2026 surrounded by his family. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Monday January 12, 2026 at 11:00 am at Oak Grove Cemetery.
