Obituary

Jane "Jean" Pellegrino, 72, of St. Mary's, GA passed away after a brief illness at Southeast Georgia Health System on July 4, 2026.

Jean was born February 2, 1954 in Greenock, Scotland to Jane and Duncan McConaghy. She met her husband Michael in 1981 and they married 6 short months  later and moved to the United States in June 1981. Jane and Michael raised 3 children together Margaret Anne, Michael, and Andrea.

Jean worked as a department manager at our St. Mary's Walmart for a number of years and stopped working after her first grandchild was born to help care for her. She was a proud Nana that helped to raise all of her grandchildren while her children worked and made an effort to be at all of their important events throughout the years and was especially looking forward to her granddaughter's upcoming wedding. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and a number of additional crafting projects and enjoyed reading and catching up with family and friends online. She never met a stranger; you could always bet that a quick stop at Walmart would never be quick because she would always stop and talk with everyone.

She is survived by her husband Michael of 45 years, daughter Margaret Anne (Scott) Young, son Michael (Brenda) Pellegrino, daughter Andrea (Jon) Pellegrino, grandchildren Michaela Young, Jamie Tanzer, Alexander Young, Michael Pellegrino, Tyler Pellegrino, Alexandra (Spencer) Pellegrino, Stephen Pellegrino, Elizabeth Young, Joshua Pellegrino, Thomas Pellegrino, and great grandchildren Arya Russel, and Lucien Pellegrino. She is also survived by her sisters Anne McConaghy, Rosemary (Dave) Yager, Catherine (Robert) Trench, and brother John McConaghy and many nieces, nephews, and very special friends and many adopted children.

She is preceded in death by her mother Jane McConaghy, father Duncan McConaghy, sisters Louisa "Louie" and Margaret Anne, brothers Donald, Frank, and James.

Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
