James Edward "JR" Reed, 82, of St. Marys, GA passed away after a short illness, at Community Hospice in Fernandina Beach, FL on September 17, 2024.

James was born on April 14, 1942 in Jackson, OH and he was the ninth child of Charles Edward Reed and Lona Marguerite Groves Reed. He followed his family tradition by joining the U.S. Army. He served from October 13,1960 to being discharged on October 9, 1962. He returned to Franklin County upon being discharged after serving in Paris, France. He worked as a programmer for large Industrial plants with large machines. He programmed them and did follow ups on checks and balancing. He was also a world traveler, enjoyed painting, making jewelry out of silver dollars, going to the beach, working on cars, boating, and also built his own home by himself and friends. Several automobiles were seen in his yard as he loved working on cars and about anything. He even made his own dentures a few years ago. He was a reserved man spending elderly years alone due to life changing trauma in his teen years.

Survivors are his sisters, Delores Dottie Reed Simpson of St. Marys, GA and Julie Nicole Mitchell of Richmond Hill, GA. Children, Rebecca Whitaker (David) of Grove City, OH, James Yaakov of Chicago, IL and Seth Reed of Columbus, OH. Numerous Grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Forest Eugene Reed, Charles Windell Reed, Lona Violet Kaufman, Charlotte Evelyn Day, Alvertta June Daniels, Bette Janet Reed and Roberta Josephine. Nephews, John Kaufman, George Kaufman, William (Billy) Reed, and Marguerite (Peggy) Knopp.
