Obituary

With gratitude for a full life well lived, we celebrate the journey of James Mac Jordan, who peacefully entered heaven on May 26, 2025, in Saint Marys, Georgia.

Jim Jordan was born on July 23, 1935, in Ashley County, Arkansas to Vera McGough and Horace Jordan, completing their family of four with his older brother Juan.  The family shortly moved to Morehouse Parrish, Louisiana where Jim grew up in the small paper mill town of Bastrop.  His family owned a Feed and Seed store, and his father worked at the mill.  Jim grew up fishing the bayous, hunting and camping in the woods, riding horses, along with a long list of various odd jobs to make an extra dollar.

Jim graduated from Northwestern State University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts.  He then began a career that started with International Paper.

He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Hudson of Gallion, Louisiana on August 23, 1957.  They had three children, Lisa Dawn, Laurel Dee, and James Hudson.  Jim and Dot had a story-book marriage for 67 years.

Jim moved his family to Saint Marys, Georgia and began working for Gilman Paper Company Kraft Bag Division in 1968 as Safety Manager.  Jim and Dot were fully engaged in their beloved community of Saint Marys and were members of Saint Marys United Methodist Church.  He served as President of the Chamber of Commerce in 1974.  Jim was an avid golfer and won the club championship of Saint Marys Country Club in 1977. He left Gilman Paper Company in 1980 after serving as President of Kraft Bag Division.  The second half of his career included several entrepreneurial and management roles including starting a bag converting operation, a trucking company, convenience stores, a printing business, import/export business, manufacturing consulting, banking, insurance, real estate, and even owning his own golf course for a time.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Dororthy.  Children, Lisa and Cal Lang, Laurie and Paul Lentz, Jay and Lisa Jordan. Grandchildren Tripp and Deanna Lang, Anna and Miles Hendrix, Leah and Major Herron, Jon Paul and Erin Lentz, Hudson, Harrison, and Joshua Jordan.  Great grandchildren Riley and Crew Lang, Emmie and Lawson Hendrix, Lena and Wilder Lentz, and Isla Herron.
