Sloan
Jul 24, 1943 — May 25, 2024
Emory Norwood Sloan, 80, of St. Marys, GA passed away peacefully at his home on May 25, 2024.
Emory was born on July 24, 1943 in Hortense, GA to the late Clester and Estelle Sloan. He was raised in Blackshear, GA working on the family farm with his siblings. He graduated from Blackshear High School in 1962. He took pride and loved all things about his High School. After high school, Emory served his country and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. Upon completion of his service he met a young lady in Atlanta named Connie. He fell in love with her and her three small boys. They married in 1967 and made St. Marys their home. Emory, Connie, and the boys welcomed a baby sister to their family and for Emory this was his heart. He worked at Kraft Bag paper division for many years. Kraft bag soon relocated to Eastman, GA and he stayed in St. Marys to work for the City of St. Marys as their Senior mechanic raising his children and taking care of his parents. He enjoyed working on cars, lawn mowers, and gardening became his life that he loved. Emory retired from the City of St. Marys and continuing to love his gardening and being with family and friends made his life complete. He continued to visit Blackshear to see childhood friends and loved his home and life he had made. He was known in the community as "Mr. Pete". Mr. Pete, Papa Pete, Uncle Pete, Daddy you will be missed by so many and you left a huge impact on all those who crossed your path. Rest easy and enjoy your eternal garden in Heaven.
