Emiliano Najera
Garcia
Mar 18, 1964 — May 21, 2025
Kingsland
From our first breath to our last, each of us tells a unique story with our lives. Today, we honor Emiliano Garcia, who chose to give the ultimate gift — the gift of life to others. His family asked that we share a few things about Big Emilio in this moment.
He was more than just a father — he was a good father, no matter the differences we may have had. He always made sure I was okay no matter how mad or upset I'd be at him. That's just the kind of man he was — always looking out for the people he loved.
He was a mentor in the kitchen, teaching with love, skill, and a quiet pride. The smell of his Mexican cooking and the taste of his food will forever live in my heart. He created magic in that kitchen — meals that brought us together and moments we'll never forget.
Everyone loved him. Whether you called him "Old Man" or "Uncle," you knew you had someone special in your life. He was a workaholic who would give you the shirt off his back the second you asked. Even when he came off a little harsh, it was never out of malice — it was because he saw potential in you, even when you didn't see it in yourself.
He loved hard. He cared deeply. And that love stretched wide — from his coworkers, who became a second family, to his very first grandbaby, Akira, who lit up his world.
I'll miss the small talks, the ones where I had to piece together his broken English, but I always understood what he meant. I'll miss him telling me goodbye with his classic "bye, puta" or "bye, cabroncito" — his unique way of showing affection. I'll miss visiting him every Monday, those talks where he'd tell me how much he wanted to see his family again, how he dreamed of them meeting me, seeing how much I've grown.
To his coworkers — thank you. Thank you for being there for him. For being his family when he clocked in every day. He loved you all deeply.
And I'll never forget the core memories he gave me — like the time we crashed that toy helicopter and laughed about it for days… and still laughed about it every time we remembered. Moments like that, they stay with you. They define you. And they remind you what love feels like.
We're hurting now, but there's some comfort in knowing he went out doing what he loved — working and providing for the people around him. Whether it was a smile, a full plate, or a little money in your hand, he gave whatever he could. That was who he was.
I'll miss him every day. I'll forever love him. And I just hope, when my time comes, he'll be standing there at those pearly gates, waiting for me with open arms.
As we care for him now, we also extend that care to the recipients of this selfless gift. May we take a moment in silence to remember Big Emilio, and all who are joined by his legacy in the days ahead.
