Daniel "Dan" Aubrey Williams, 86, of Woodbine, GA passed away on August 29, 2023, surrounded by his family at Hospice of the Golden Isles.

Dan was born on October 15, 1936, in Metter GA to Lyman Claude and Estelle Bowen Williams. He grew up in Homestead, FL and attended Georgia Southern College where he met his wife, Anne Gowen Williams, of 62 years. They married in 1960 and moved to Woodbine.

Dan was a member of the Air Force/ Georgia Air National Guard where he developed a love of airplanes and later obtained his private pilot's license. His passion of flying created three generations of pilots: son Aubrey (private), grandson Chris (Air Force F-15's-currently serving) and grandson Matt (commercial).

Dan was a Purchasing Agent at Thiokol Chemical Corporation/Union Carbide/Rhone-Poulenc/Beyer before retiring in 1995. He was instrumental when the plant exploded in 1971 by driving numerous people to area hospitals in the back of a company station wagon. Dan was a member of the Woodbine United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, Masonic Lodge 326, the Woodbine Housing Authority, Selective Service Board, Chamber of Commerce, Bulldog Club and served on the Board of Directors and Advisory Board of Southeastern Bank, Board of Directors of TDS, and Board of Directors of Georgia Coastal College. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and tennis. After Anne retired, they enjoyed traveling the country in their motorhome. Dan especially enjoyed visiting aeronautical museums, but his true passion was attending Georgia Bulldog games and his friends at Bulldog Park. Go Dawgs!

Dan is survived by his wife Anne, son Aubrey (Carole) and daughter Michelle (Mary). His pride and joy were grandchildren Leslie (Jacob), Chris (Courtney) and Matt (Ally). His six great-grandchildren are Finley, Luella, Sadie, Julian, Caroline, and Daniel. He is also survived by brother Mike (Valerie).

Dan is preceded in death by his parents Lyman and Estelle, and brother Wayne (Cheryl) who passed away just 7 months ago. A graveside service will be held at Pineview Cemetery in Folkston, GA on Saturday Sept 2, 2023, at 10:30 am. Pineview is located at 128 Milton Street Folkston GA 31537.
