Charlie
Curry
Jun 7, 1957 — Jul 17, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Robert Curry, who departed this world in the arms of Jesus on July 17, 2026, at the age of 69, in Fall Creek Falls, Tennessee.
Born on June 7, 1957 in Vicenza, Italy (as a US Citizen Born Abroad), Charlie lived a life defined by hard work, integrity, service, and a deep love for his family. In his younger years, Charlie worked in the coal mines of Southern Illinois (as both his grandfathers had done). There, he developed the resilience, determination, and unwavering work ethic that would become hallmarks of his character throughout his life. He later dedicated his professional life to education, serving with distinction as a school teacher and administrator. His leadership, wisdom, and commitment to students, teachers and families left a lasting impact on countless lives. He believed deeply in the value of education and worked tirelessly to create opportunities for others to succeed. Outside of his career, Charlie found great peace in God's creation. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished time spent fishing quiet waters and hunting in the woods. Whether casting a line, setting limb lines, or simply hiking and exploring, he found joy in nature and treasured every opportunity to spend time with family and friends outdoors. His love of the outdoors was more than a pastime-it was a way of life that he eagerly passed on to those he loved. Above all else, Charlie was a devoted husband, loving father, proud (Papa) grandfather, loyal friend, and Christian man. He was known for his strength, kindness, quiet wisdom, and generous heart. He led by example, teaching the importance of honesty, perseverance, humility, and compassion. Those fortunate enough to know him, will remember his steady presence, his willingness to help others, and the genuine warmth he brought to every relationship.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Rebecca (Becci) Curry, children Jann Curry, Candice (Kevin) Thackston, Luci (Paul) Vaden, and Brandon (Robyn) Baily, grandchildren Charles Trax, Eliana Enriquez, Levi, Liza, & Livie Vaden, and Peyton & Paisley Baily.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Eugene Curry and Lucille Mae (Mills) Curry, and sister Beverly Sue (Sigler) Curry.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial service will be held at the Kingsland First Methodist Church, Saturday, July 25, beginning with visitation at 11:00 and service at 12:00. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate a life well-lived and a man whose legacy will continue through the
many lives he touched.
Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in every quiet morning on the water, every walk through the woods, every lesson shared, and every life made better because he was part of it. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
