Obituary

Cecily A Hill, 83, of St. Marys, GA passed away at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, GA on March 30, 2026.

Cecily Hill, a woman of profound grace, warmth, and strength, passed from this life leaving behind a legacy as wide and enduring as the Georgia coast she called home. Born on August 24, 1942, in Woodbine, Georgia, to Elma Council Atkinson and Maurice Lynnwood Atkinson Sr, she was raised with the deep roots and open-hearted hospitality that would define every chapter of her remarkable life. Cecily never met a stranger. She had an extraordinary gift, the ability to make every single person she encountered feel seen, valued, and genuinely loved. She was the epitome of southern grace, generous to a fault, always ready to give whatever she had, and possessed a kindness that left its mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her heart was full of faith in Jesus, a source of hope and peace throughout her life.

Family

Cecily was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Meredith Langley Hill Jr.

She is survived by her brothers, Rick Atkinson and his wife Claudia, and Lynn Atkinson and his wife Lyn. She is also survived by her four cherished children: Jennifer and her husband Burt Wright, Elese and her husband Terry Stover, Suzanne and her husband Jim Greer, and Tripp Hill. Her grandchildren: Cole Wright (fiancé, Bailey Rossell) and Jack Wright (fiancé, Abby Ray); Logan (Drew) Stover, and Joseph (Courtney) Stover; Lana (Jacob) Popham; Zachary (Lindsey) Greer, Ben (Leanne) Greer; Jana Hill and Chris (Madeline) Hill all carry forward the warmth and spirit she so freely gave. Cecily also delighted in her great-grandchildren: Hill, son of Joseph and Courtney; Gracie and Baird, children of Logan and Drew; Luke and Ava, children of Zachary and Lindsey; Elizabeth and Benjamin, children of Ben and Leanne; Langley, son of Lana and Jacob; Peyton, Davis, and Christian, sons of Chris and Madeline Hill.

A Trailblazer in Public Life

Cecily Hill made history as the first Republican and first female State Representative from Camden County, serving in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2003 to 2011. Representing District 180, which encompasses Camden County and a portion of Glynn County along Georgia's southeastern coast, she brought to the Capitol the same integrity and genuine care for people that she showed in every facet of her life. In a testament to her character and the respect she commanded across party lines, Cecily was loved equally by members of both political parties. She served with distinction as Vice Chair of the Game, Fish, and Parks Committee; Secretary of the Banks and Banking Committee; Chair of the Subcommittee on Ports; and Chair of the Subcommittee on Tourism and Film. She also served on the Appropriations, Transportation, and Economic Development and Tourism committees.

Business & Community

Beyond her legislative career, Cecily was a respected pillar of the Kingsland business community. She was Co- owner of Prudential Magnolia Realty from 1988 to 2022. Throughout her illustrious real estate career, she earned the distinction of Lifetime Million Dollar Realtor. Prior to her career in real estate, she was the owner of Hills Drug Store and Gift Shop in Kingsland with her husband Meredith. Her commitment to the community she loved extended to service on the Camden House Board, the Coastal Georgia Community College Board, the Salvation Army Board, the Satilla Community Bank Board, and Lighthouse Healthcare Board.
