Bryan Russell
Lemons
Sep 20, 1967 — Jul 6, 2024
Bryan Russell Lemons, 56, of St. Mary's, GA, passed away in his home on July 6, 2024.
Born on September 20, 1967 in Cherry Point, North Carolina, he was a devoted husband to Lora Lemons and a loving father to his children, Zach, Nick, Aleah, and Jake.
Bryan grew up in St. Charles, Missouri where he attended St. Charles West High School. Following high school, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Methodist University in 1989 and his Juris Doctorate degree from the St. Louis University School of Law in 1992. He also received a Master of Public Administration degree from Valdosta State University in 2011. He was a 2007 graduate of the Federal Executive Institute's Leadership in a Democratic Society Program, and a 2009 graduate of the Department of Homeland Security's Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program. He received the DHS Secretary's Exceptional Service Gold Medal Award in 2022 and the Meritorious SES Presidential Rank Award in 2023. Bryan joined the United States Marine Corps in 1989, where he served as a defense attorney, prosecuting attorney, and senior legal advisor for executive-level managers until 1999, when he joined the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) as a Senior Instructor in the Legal Division (LGD). From 2001 through 2019, Bryan served in multiple leadership positions across FLETC, including as a Branch Chief in LGD, Chief of the Environmental and Safety Division, Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of the Glynco Training Directorate, DAD of the Administration Directorate, and FLETC Chief of Staff. In 2019, he was appointed to the Senior Executive Service and initially served as the AD for FLETC's Technical Training Operations Directorate. Prior to his most recent role as the Chief Counsel of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers, Bryan served as the Assistant Director, Mission and Readiness Support Directorate. While working at FLETC, Bryan also served as an adjunct professor for the College of Coastal Georgia. Former students described him as being one of the best professors on campus. They shared that his classroom is always filled with laughter and joy. He was someone that truly cared and listened to his students, wanting them to succeed both in and out of the classroom. Bryan was an incredibly hard-working man, working tirelessly to provide for his loved ones. He was sarcastic, funny, and always quick with a one-liner or a dad-joke. He was an avid horror movie fan, regardless of how they scored on Rotten Tomatoes. He enjoyed spending his vacations on the porch of a cabin, with a cigar in-hand, telling tall tales. He loved reading about
historical figures, watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers struggle to win every year, and most importantly, Bryan loved his family.
Bryan is preceded in death by his father, Bill Lemons, and his sister, Diana Lemons.
He is survived by his mother, Ann Lemons, his wife, Lora Lemons, and his four children, Zachary Lemons, Nicholas Lemons, Aleah Lemons, and Jacob Lemons.
