Betty Lou
Scott
Jun 2, 1951 — Aug 31, 2025
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Betty Lou Scott, 74, of St. Marys GA on Aug 31, 2025.
Betty was born June 2, 1951, in Nowata, OK to the late Randolph and Wilma Jo James, of Lenapah, OK. She was the eldest twin to Billie Swanson, something she would always remind people of when they asked. She married the love of her life Robert Scott, Sept 3, 1966. Robert and Betty moved from Lenapah, OK, to Ridgecrest, CA and finally relocated to St Marys, GA; the place they called home.
Betty is survived by three siblings: Samual James (wife Barbara), Billie Swanson (husband Barry) and Melinda James Kimball (husband Brent). Her children Robert Scott Jr (wife, Barbara) of Woodbine, Tammy Scott of St. Marys, and Dana Burgan (husband John) of Fernandina Beach, FL/Valley Head, AL. Her seven grandchildren: Daniel Ruth, Kyle Scott, Adam Ruth, Jessica Garza, Jeffery Scott, Aaron Burgan, and Alyssa Burgan. Also, eight great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.
Betty was proceeded in death by her loving husband in 2022.
Betty was an RN who was passionate in her profession and held many roles throughout her career. She earned her master's in health administration at Saint Leo's University. She instilled in her children to never stop learning. Betty was the keeper of historical family information and had a love of flowers that was passed down to her granddaughters. She loved having quality time with her grandchildren and sharing her
love of Harry Potter.
A funeral Mass for Betty will be held on September 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in St. Marys, GA.
Allison Memorial Chapel will oversee arrangements for burial.
The family requests that people make donations in Betty's name to Our Lady Star of the Sea in lieu of sending flowers.
