Lee
Nov 9, 1929 — Jun 8, 2025
Betty Jean (Stuckey) Lee, age 95, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, in St. Marys, Georgia.
Born on November 9, 1929, in Georgiana, Alabama, she lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to her family and community.
Betty was the daughter of Cary S. Stuckey and Mamie Armstrong Stuckey. She grew up in Alabama alongside her siblings Lucille Faust, Margaret Skipper, Shirley Croley, Ralph Stuckey, Jack Stuckey, and James Stuckey, all of whom preceded her in death.
She married Raymond O. Lee, with whom she shared a deep and enduring partnership until his passing. Together they began their journey at Fort Riley, Kansas during Raymond's military service. Afterward, they settled in Greenville and then Chickasaw, Alabama while Raymond worked for International Paper in Mobile. In 1963, they moved to St. Marys, Georgia to help start up the American Can Company—a move that would define the next six decades of Betty's life. For 62 years, she called St. Marys home and became a beloved presence in the community.
Betty was a loving and caring mother to her children: Judy (Barry) Lawson, Roger (Sara) Lee, Royce Lee, Julie (Mark) Durham, Randy Lee, and the late Ricky O. Lee. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren: Bert Guy; Nickie (Bobby) Tillery; Staci (Robert) Naftel; Kristi Lee; Ryan (Jessica) Durham; Andy (Christin) Durham; Matt (Mandy) Durham; Justin Lee; and Bryce Lee. She also cherished her great-grandchildren: Michaela Guy; Mattox Guy; McKenna Guy; Brooke Tillery; Abby Tillery; Rachael Tillery; Hudson Durham; Hayden Durham; Luke Durham; Lennon Durham; Landon Durham; and Kylie Durham.
She is also survived by her sister Joyce Little.
Throughout her life, Betty was known as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on those around her.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Viewing will be held on June 12, 2025, from 01:30 PM to 02:30 PM at St. Marys Methodist Church 106 Conyers St E. The Funeral will follow at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
