Growing up in LaGrange, GA she was known by her family and friends as "butterbean". Her size didn't deter her passion for playing on a women's softball league during her teenage years. During her working years, Betty was an Inspection supervisor for Playtex International and also Hanes Hosiery. However, finishing up her working career as a Paraprofessional for special needs children at the Hollis Hand Elementary. It was the job that filled her heart with "joy". Betty loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Dunson Baptist Church in LaGrange, GA. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was active in the ladies WMU. In 1992 upon retiring, Betty moved to St. Marys, Ga to be close to her daughter's. She "converted" as she liked to say and became an active member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church. Betty loved music- all kinds, but especially always loved Elvis. She played the piano "by ear" and she could play a mean boogie woogie. She also loved to dance, shop, and go out to eat with family and friends and was a very social person. Even though she didn't get to travel much, she loved going and seeing new places. Although Betty started life small in stature, she lived life "Big" as a fiesty, sassy, southern lady.
