Obituary

Annie M. (Wilder) McCullers completed her journey on this earth and was transferred into the loving arms of her Precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 29, 2024.

A native of Mayo, FL, she was born the 12th of 12 children to Charlie and Alice (Ezell) Wilder on October 28,1929, following 9 brothers and 2 sisters. During her student life, she was an accomplished athlete as the fastest female runner and a star basketball player.

She was happily married for 72 years to her first love / childhood sweetheart, Robert McCullers, also of Mayo, FL. They made their permanent home together in St. Marys, GA in 1954, when he went to work at Gilman Paper Co. They were a loving and life-long inseparable team. He preceded her to Eternal Life with our Lord in 2019. One of her hobbies was gardening. Their lush and plentiful spring and autumn vegetable garden crops, and their abundant harvest of grapes were widely known among their neighborhood, family and friends. They always generously shared their bountiful produce and her homemade grape jelly. During the last 20 years of their retirement, they spent Saturday nights dancing at the Woodbine Opry, where their son, Robert Jr., led the show, sang & played the steel and electric guitars. They dearly enjoyed the friendship of the many attendees and band members through the years.

She is a Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Devoted Wife, Faithful Child of God, Loving Aunt & Dear Friend. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Mayo while she lived there. She was later a member of Westside Baptist Church in St. Marys and she served as Church Secretary there for over 20 years. Her lifelong faith, daily prayer and devotion to God guided her mind, heart and spirit. A most gracious, kind, caring, hospitable, very Special Lady. Always the heart of her family, unfailingly always putting their needs above her own, gentle and loving, and loved by all who've known her.

Her gratefully blessed family includes her children Robert, Jr. (Goldie), Ray (Brenda) McCullers, Angie McCullers, and Lisa (Stewart) Trey. Her 7 grandsons Justin (Kellie) McCullers, Josh (Amanda) McCullers, Jordan (fiance Aubrey) McCullers, Erik Morris, Kevin (Haley) Morris, Stewart A. Trey and Jacob Trey. Her 7 great grandchildren Theo, Charlie, Clementine, Abel James and Noa McCullers, Analyn & Samson Morris. Many dear nieces, nephews and friends who feel like family. She leaves a lasting legacy of living by example. She is sorely missed & lovingly remembered.

Services will be held at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:00 am with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Lawnwood Cemetery immediately following her service. All are welcome to attend.
