Ann Chartrand, also known as "The Hugging Lady", passed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on January 10, 2025.

Ann was born May 6, 1940 in Pembroke, Ontario and moved to the states in her early years. Here she found love and was married. Ann had been a resident of Woodbine Georgia for more than 25 years and was known for her generosity and humanity towards all. She tried to help everyone and anyone who needed it. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in St. Marys, Georgia. She was one of the first volunteers with Raven of Elijah Food Ministries since 2010. This is where she became known as The Hugging Lady. Ann loved playing cards, dominoes and other games that brought laughter all those around her.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, husband and son Edmund.

She is survived by her children, Marie Kornacki of Woodbine, Georgia; Elizabeth Newcity of Massachusetts and grandchildren: Cassandra Kornacki of Kentucky, Kyle Percy of Kingsland, Georgia, Zachary Newcity of Valrico, and Robert Newcity of Rockledge, Florida; along with two sisters in Canada and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 11:00am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in St. Marys, Georgia.
