André Mario Cournoyer, 60, passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2023 in St. Marys, GA.

André was a kind, funny, and caring friend to everyone he met. Under his tough guy act there was the biggest heart of gold. André was known to speak a language that, at times, was not quite French and not quite English, but all who knew him understood that language as love. Try as he may, he was never able to catch the elusive fish in Michigan, but he gained a family there and changed their lives forever. André's lifelong trade, which he learned while serving in the United States Air Force, was the art of welding metals together using attention, patience, and love. André used those same strengths to build a wide network of friends, family, acquaintances, and loved ones, all of whom will forever be better for having known him.

André is survived by his wife Ali; his mother Irene Gilbert; his children Corey (Margarita), Andre, Matthew, Jackson, and Abigail; his siblings Claire (Todd) Rhyne, Paul (Tina) Gilbert, Amanda and James Salliotte, and Jamie and Aren Rabe; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Doug and Jackie Wilmoth; his grandchildren Luka Cournoyer and Hannah Cournoyer; four nieces and two nephews; other extended family members; and his dogs Blue and Poppy. He was predeceased by his father, Gilles Cournoyer, and his beloved shepherd Zeus.

Donations may be made to Hope for Life Rescue, Inc., 610 Jack Rabbit Rd. #3, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. The family will greet friends from 1 to 2pm on Monday, March 6th. A service will follow at 2pm in the funeral home chapel. A gathering for friends and family will be held following the service at Lendy's Cafe, 1581 General Booth Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA.
